Who looks after the dog while you are away — and how do you know they went out?

A sitter for specific days sees only their own walks, not the dog's history. You see every one — with the route, if you ask for it.

Who looks after the dog while you are away — and how do you know they went out?

A week away. The neighbour agreed to take Nala out morning and evening. You leave the keys, a bag of food and a note: "let us know when you've been out". By the third day the note has stopped working — she goes out, forgets to text, and you are guessing from a hotel room.

How it works in Tropy

You invite the sitter by email for specific days — say, Friday to Sunday next week. They create their account by clicking the invitation; no password needed. From then on every walk they take with Nala shows up on your dashboard like a household walk: time, duration, distance, poop and pee, a photo. When the access runs out, it runs out by itself — nobody has to be removed.

The sitter sees only their own walks from the shift. They do not browse the dog's history from the last year, they do not see your routes from your front door, and in the household list they see only themselves. They got the dog, not a window into the family.

When inviting, you can ask for the route to be recorded. The sitter sees the request before accepting, and at the start of a walk the switch is locked. It is a request, not a guarantee — the phone can stay at home, the signal can drop, permission can be declined — but then you will see that the route is missing, rather than a promise that it was there.

What changes

  • You know the dog went out, without texting and without waiting for a reply.
  • The neighbour comes back next summer — you invite her again; the previous shift stays in the dog's history, and whether she sees it is up to you.
  • Instead of a neighbour it can be a sitter from the directory — you invite them by the identifier on their page, without knowing their email.

What we deliberately do not do

We do not show the sitter anyone else's walks or photos. We do not quietly revive old access — a new shift is a new invitation, visible to both sides.
